NorthStar Tavern in Bloomington offers fabulous food, great drinks, and plenty of entertainment, and today we’re there visiting with owner Jon Norine for the latest episode of our community spotlight series.
Jon was born and raised in Bloomington, and he bought the property that would eventually become NorthStar Tavern while he was shopping for homes about a year and a half ago. Business has been booming ever since.

What makes NorthStar Tavern unique is that they have many customizable, handheld options, including nine proteins, nine holders, and nine setups. They also offer vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. For the video, Jon had the chef prepare some of their most popular items for us to sample, including a house patty with a house setup on a brioche bun, their crybaby cauliflower, and their three-meat pizza.
On top of that, they have 24 beer taps (19 of which rotate their selection) that beer lovers are sure to enjoy. When NorthStar Tavern is able to open their restaurant inside again to the public, this is a great place to bring friends and family and get the party started.
